There are several different kinds of air purifiers on the market-including room air purifiers, regular 1" filters for your HVAC system, HEPA filters, all the way up to the most technologically advanced whole-home air purification systems.


Help save electricity and improve your system's performance

1. Keep all grilles and registers open and clear of obstructions such as drapes or furniture
2. Keep doors and windows closed.
3. Be sure all air ducts are well insulated and sealed with a vapor barrier.
4. Let the sun in during winter. Keep it out during the summer.
5. Be sure clothes dryers are vented to the outside (away from your outdoor condenser unit).
6. Use kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans only when necessary
7. Add insulation, storm windows and insulated outside door. Seal crack to prevent air leaks.
8. Keep your system's filters clean.
9. Operating your indoor fan on AUTO cost less.
10. Keep lamps, television and other heat sources away from your thermostat.
11. Leave the power on at the outdoor unit at all times.
12. Never use your condenser asa stand for hoses or tools.
13. Use caution with lawn mower and trimmer to avoid damaging the piping or wiring.


Hot water tank making "knocking or banging" noise?

The tank in most instance has a calcium build up. You can reduce the noise by drainage about a gallon of water from the tank. This will reduce the sediment in the bottom of the tank. But there is no way to complete remove the noise other than replacement.


How do I ensure good Indoor Air Quaility (IAQ) in my home?

Just as we need regular health checks, an HVAC system should ideally have scheduled inspections. Schedule HVAC "health checks" with Raymond Plumbing & Heating in the spring and fall to ensure that it is well-maintained.


How do I know if I'm getting the most of my indoor comfort system?

Maintenance for your furnace or air conditioning?

This system is not a household appliance. It is a complex self contained system that requires professional maintenance and repair. Other than filter changes, your should not attempt to make any adjustments to your system. FILTERS Your system is equipped with one of these types of air filters:
1. Glass fiber replace (throw away) these when dirty. Do not to attempt to clean them.
2. Plastic fiber or foam - clean by soaking in mild detergent and rising with cold water.
3. Electro Static Filter - Wash with water.
4. Accordion Filter - replace every 12-16 months unless smokers or animals in home. Check your filters at least once a month and clean or replace them as needed. Replace filters with the arrows on the side pointing in the direction of the air flow.
Remember: Dirty filters are the most common cause of inadequate heating or cooling performance and of compressor failures. Check your filters.


Not enough or no hot water in house?

Check to make sure pilot is lit or on electric tank the thermostat is on. Check thermostat setting-normal setting is 120 degrees. Hot water tank may be undersize for number of occupants or addition of whirlpool tub. Gas pressure to tank may be low not allowing tank to heat thoroughly. Possible leak on the hot water lines in the home.


Pilot won't lite or stay lit on hot water tank?

The thermocouple is malfunctioning, check connection or replace thermocouple or check thermostat(electric tank). Check to make sure gas knob is positioned correctly(see manual). The pilot orifice is clogged or pinched. The pilot burner may also be dirty. Check main gas supply to make sure it is on.


Water leak near hot water tank?

There are (3) possibilities: Seal on hot or cold supply, relief valve, drain valve or thermostat threads need tighten, another appliance near hot water tank has leaked or possible condensation from tank itself (see manual).
